Welcome to the Rotary Club of North Ridgeville. Our instinctive human nature is to serve others, and Rotary provides us with a structure to bring our gifts and talents together to make a greater impact than we could accomplish alone. Ray Klinginsmith, Rotary International President for 2010-2011, selected a theme for the year: Building Communities — Bridging Continents. These four words aptly reflect who we are and what we do as Rotarians. We are a unique and a premier organization, certainly one of the best in the world. We build the spirit and resources of our local communities in an important way. So what does this mean to us locally, to the Rotary Club of North Ridgeville? It means putting dictionaries in the hands of every third grade student, a Four Way Test speech contest, honoring a Student of the Month, partnering with the North Ridgeville Fishing Club to host a Fishing Derby and granting a scholarship to a graduating senior. It’s building maintenance at Safetyville and flags at South Central Park. It’s hosting an international exchange student. It’s providing school supplies in Nicaragua. None of us could serve our community in all those ways alone, but through Rotary we can make an incremental improvement in many lives. Join us for lunch at noon each Friday at the Office for Older Adults (Senior Center). You’ll find our meetings lively, fun and continually seeking ways to serve. Yours in Rotary Service, Carl Commons
