Hello Rotarians and friends! On July 1st we launched our new Rotary year. As always happens with the new year, we have had a change in the leadership of our club. Apparently I didn't get things right in my first term as President for the 2008-2009 year so they've asked me to do it again!
If you ask any of our members what Rotary means to them, you are likely to get different responses from each of them. I view this as a positive thing because that means each Rotarian has a personal connection to Rotary and our club.
One of the things I enjoy most about Rotary is the ability to meet and get to know people from all walks of life. In my normal day-to-day business I work with small business owners and rarely come across folks from City Hall or people who are helping our students by working in the school system. As part of Rotary, I get the chance to expand my network of people who I Know, Like, and Trust across all walks of life and not simply business.
I also love the fact that not only do we make a difference in the local North Ridgeville and greater Cleveland communities, but we also have opportunities to help those around the world. A few years back we sent a fully stocked ambulance to Nicaragua (click here to read more) and every year we fill shoeboxes full of basic supplies to send to children who live in garbage dumps in Nicaragua (click here to read more). There aren't many other places to get this kind of reach.
As the world continues to shrink, groups like Rotary will continue to be at the forefront of building understanding of those in the world around us and helping us stay connected. We'd love to have you join us some Friday at noon for lunch as a guest or a speaker (click here to learn more details about our meetings) or have you join us at some of our events. Thanks for your interest and ongoing support of our club!
Yours in Rotary,
Adam Sonnhalter
